Fundamental Inspection & Testing is a course for practising electricians who haven’t worked on fundamental inspection and testing since qualifying or for newly qualified electricians with limited experience. It teaches delegates from scratch, how to carry out the tests needed to prove an installation is safe, as well as showing you what results to expect and how to interpret the results that you get.
This course is aimed at the initial verification of new single-phase installations; this alone will not make you competent to carry out periodic inspections of existing installations.
Once you have completed this course you will have the knowledge required to be able to test and certify new work to the level expected by the relevant competent person schemes.
The 2392 course is five days long and culminates with an on line multiple-choice exam, and 2-hour practical assessment. There is also an extra half-day session for the practical assessment that will be arranged between student and lecturer.
Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course, candidates should have a fundamental understanding of electrical principles, as well as experience with electrical installation in the electrical sector or in a related trade. Entrants should also have basic English and maths skills. Students must be 18 years or over to book on to this course, to meet City & Guilds age requirement for sitting the online exam.
Any resources eg. reference books or equipment needed to complete the course must be brought with you on day 1 of your course. We are unable to provide spare books or equipment.
